ICC World Cup 2023: Pakistan vs Netherland

 





ICC cricket world cup is one of the most anticipated events for cricket fans and fans all around the world anxiously wait for this tournament. Pakistan played its warm up matches against Australia and New Zealand. It was not a start Pakistan team would have expected they lost both warm-up matches.

Moving on Pakistan played its first official game of ICC world cup 2023 against Netherland. Netherland is a much competitive side as compared to last time they have played an ICC tournament. Pakistan batted first with opener Imam-ul-Haq and Fakhar Zaman. Both openers went back to dug out very early. After Fakhar Zaman, Babar Azam came onto the pitch. He followed the footsteps of the opener and very soon was seen in the dug out.

 After early setback wicket keeper batsman Muhammad Rizwan and Saud Shakeel came on the crease and created a strong building block of the innings. Both scored 100+ partnership. It seemed like Pakistan would score 300+ run but was not the case. Saud Shakeel got out on 68(52) and Muhammad Rizwan scored 68(75).  After that, Shadab khan and Muhammad Nawaz scored littles knocks of 32(34) and 39(43) runs respectively. Bas de Leede was the pick of bowlers as he took 4 wickets.

Pakistan scored 286 runs in 49 overs and Netherland need to score 287 runs to win and did an upset in first match of their campaign. Netherland started of the innings were strongly as opener did not allow easy wicket. Vikremjeet Singh scored 52(67) but standout performance from Netherlands batters was Bas de Leede, as he scored 67(68) and had impactful inning.

Other than them there was no other batter who could stand with them and create big partnership to win the game. Netherland was able to score only 205 runs in 41 over and all batters were back in dug out.

It was very needed victory Team Pakistan as they were out of form and this victory would raise morale of Team’s dugout.
