Pakistan in Asian Games 2023: Kabaddi

Kabaddi is one of the most thrilling games. Total of 9 teams are participating in the event of Asian games 2023 These teams are divided into two groups with 5 and 4 teams in each respectively. Pakistan is placed in group B with Iran, Malaysia, and South Korea whereas in group A India, Chinese Taipei, Bangladesh, Japan, Thailand.

Pakistan started its campaign in kabaddi Asian games loosely as they lost their first game against Iran with 26 points difference. After the game against Iran Pakistan emerged as a new team and played brilliantly against Malaysia and South Korea and now have +31 points difference after the embarrassing defeat against Iran.

Pakistan have now confirmed a medal in kabaddi in Asian games 2023 as each semifinalist is awarded with medal and now have 130 points and given 99 points

The match against South Korea was crucial as it was decider for Pakistan whether they will remain in tournament alive or go home but Pakistan easily beat South Korea and played their next match against Malaysia which confirmed that Pakistan will be going to semifinals and at least earn medal in Asian games 2023

In the other group Chinese Taipei and India are playing top-notch game and are most likely to be selected for semifinals.

Pakistan Played its semifinals against India and Chinese Taipei played semifinal against Iran. India comprehensively beat Pakistan while on the other side Iran defeated Chinese Taipei. According to rules Pakistan and Chinese Taipei both were awarded bronze medal. India and Iran fought for gold medal.

In the final of Asian Games 2023 kabaddi India and Iran both played on the top of their hearts but at the end of the match India defeated Iran and secured gold medal while Iran was able to secure silver medal.

It is one of positive sites for Pakistan in Asian games as not many Pakistani athletes have scored medal in Asian games 2023 but getting a medal with boost the morale of athletes.

Being said Pakistan Sports Board should work hard and efficiently on the development of players so that players could not only represent Pakistan in big tournaments but become a team who is capable of winning medals and make Pakistan proud at international level.
